A Trip Down Memory Lane

Last week eight of our Upper Sixth Form students who have been at Ryde School since nursery, had the pleasure of going back to where it all began.

George, Sam, Jacob, Preston, Kensei, Merlin, Toby and Casey took a trip down memory lane as they toured the Fiveways building with Mrs Lovell exchanging happy memories of how they used to cross that same road with a yellow safety rope!

The students have just weeks left at Ryde School and can still remember the marble parties, graduating to a writing pen with a 'pen license', putting on nativities in the 'Big Hall', (which now seems more like the small hall), and the smells of the dining hall from 2012 which they can guarantee have not changed.

They tested out the tiny chairs, the playground equipment and had one more kick of the football in the Prep playground all before rounding up the tour with a quick bell ringing session that they fondly remember playing in local retirement homes.

Reminiscing about the Easter egg hunts in the garden and the water fights on hot days, they can also recall their maths lessons and "Year Two It's You" assemblies with topics such as Spiderman, French, Jurassic Park and the Deep Sea springing back to mind.

The students have changed their aspirations since joining Ryde School, 14 years ago, swapping their dreams of becoming astronauts, policemen and paleontologists to careers in cinematography, physiotherapy and an enthusiasm to become the Prime Minister.

We look forward to watching their next steps beyond Ryde School.
