INTERNATIONAL ADMISSIONS

Ryde School has a long and proud history of welcoming students from all over the world. Our international students are fully integrated into the life of the school, enriching our community with their diverse cultures and perspectives.
We understand that applying from overseas can seem like a complex process, and our dedicated admissions team is here to guide you and your family at every stage.

Admissions Process

We accept applications for international students throughout the year, although we advise applying early as places can be limited and subject option combinations may also be limited once the timetable has been constructed. Here is our step-by-step guide to joining Ryde School.

Step 1: Enquiry and Visit
We encourage all prospective families to get in touch with our admissions team to discuss your child's application. We would be delighted to arrange a personal visit for you to tour the school and meet our Head Master, boarding and academic staff and tour our campus.

For families unable to visit in person, we offer online meetings with our Head Master and admissions team, who can provide a comprehensive overview of the school and answer all your questions.

Step 2: Registration
To formally begin the application process, please complete our online Registration Form and pay the non-refundable registration fee.

Step 3: Assessment
We need to be confident that your child will thrive in our academic and social environment. To assess their suitability, we will request:

School Reports: Copies of your child’s two most recent school reports, translated into English if necessary.

Entrance Assessments: All applicants will sit the Ryde School entrance assessments, which typically include English (as an Additional Language) and Mathematics.

Online Interview: A friendly interview will be held online with the Head Master.

Step 4: Offer of a Place
If the assessment is successful, we will make a formal Offer of a Place, subject to our terms and conditions.

Step 5: Acceptance
To accept the offer, you will be asked to complete and return the Acceptance Form along with an acceptance deposit. This deposit will be held by the school and returned after your child’s final term, in accordance with our terms and conditions.

Visas

Ryde School is a UKVI sponsor and understands that for our international families applying for a visa can be a daunting process.  We partner with a company called Sable International to support you through this process making it as simple as possible.  For more information please contact the admissions team at admissions@rydeschool.net

Guardianship

It is a legal requirement for all international students whose parents live outside the UK to have a UK-based guardian. The guardian acts as a representative for the parents and provides a vital link between the family and the school.

A guardian must be over the age of 25 and can be a family member, a friend, or a professional guardianship agency accredited by AEGIS (The Association for the Education and Guardianship of International Students).

The guardian’s responsibilities include:

  • Providing accommodation during half-term breaks and exeat weekends if the student is not returning home.
  • Attending parents' evenings and other school events.
  • Being an emergency contact and supporting the student in case of illness or other urgent matters.

Parents are responsible for appointing a suitable guardian before their child joins the school.

We are always on hand to discuss your child's future education so please do contact us:
