Ryde School Alumni
Founded in 1921 as Ryde Grammar School, the School became Co-Ed in 1994 when the school merged with Upper Chine Girls' School. The acquisition of Bembridge School's buildings followed its closure in 1996.
We welcome alumni from all three schools, either as part of the ORA or via the two separate organisations for Bembridge and Upper Chine Schools.

What is your favourite memory from Ryde?
Like many I suspect, I fondly remember Mr. Fenn’s tuck shop and especially his classical studies lessons! Handing back my hymn book to him after 6 years with most of the pages missing was a daunting experience! Being a boarder I was in Trinity House and I was able to enjoy all the school’s facilities, especially swimming in the summer and all kinds of sports.

What is your favourite memory from Ryde?
I have a lovely memory of the Summer Fete. We always participated in fetes as Mum ran the cake stall and Dad helped out with the scout group who always performed mini skits on the stage. I helped to run the stall alongside the coconut shy, wet sponge throwing at staff, pillow fighting on gymnastic equipment and much enjoyment. It rarely rained during a fete. The sun shines for a special day at Ryde School.

What is your favourite memory from Ryde?
I have many fond memories at Ryde School, from the Christmas panto in Bembridge, meeting the Queen at a CCF event to the fiercely competitive House songs and Sports day. However, my favourite memory must be my final rugby game for Ryde, we defeated our arch rivals after a long season, in front of the entire home crowd!
